Treasure Island, Florida: Day 3

Today is Memorial Day and was like yesterday—we spent most of our day at the beach and went out to dinner early in the evening. I think most of our days will be like this.

In the morning, I noticed small, brown lizards near the pool. Maybe I’ll be able to photograph one, but they move pretty fast.

Some of us walked along the beach to Caddy’s for lunch. Members of the honor guard from the local American Legion post held a ceremony with a 21-gun salute (we left before they fired the shots).

In the evening, we drove 30 minutes along the shore to Guppy’s on the Beach for dinner.

The dunes by Land’s End were damaged by a hurricane recently (probably Hurricane Milton in October 2024). They’re growing new plants, which provide strength in the dunes, and there are these signs instructing beachgoers to stay off of them.
